Short answer: We list 12 stem cell clinics in Colombia. Five of them met all of our minimum checks and scored at least one point on our transparency checks: they mention Colombian regulatory approval, publish prices, name their doctors or state how long they have operated. They are BioXcellerator, Stemwell, Regencord, Stem Cells Colombia and Stem Cells Kyron Colombia. "Best" here means best on these published checks only. It is not a judgment of medical results.
How we chose these clinics
We started from the 12 Colombian clinics in our directory and applied the same rules to each one. They are the same rules we use for Mexico.
Minimum checks (all required):
- The clinic has a full, verified profile in our directory.
- Its website loaded when we checked it on October 23, 2026.
- Stem cell or regenerative treatment is a main service, not a side offering.
- It has at least 20 Google reviews with an average of 4.0 or higher, as recorded in our directory data.
Transparency points (one point each, 0 to 4), based on what the clinic's own website says:
- It names a Colombian regulatory approval or standard it follows, such as INVIMA (Colombia's medicines regulator) or a Ministry of Health resolution.
- It publishes prices or a price range.
- It names at least one physician.
- It states a founding year or years in operation.
We ranked clinics by points, then by number of Google reviews. A clinic needed at least one point to be ranked. We re-check the ranking every quarter; the next review is January 2027.

We did not verify licenses, doctors' credentials or patient outcomes, and we did not visit the clinics. A high score means a clinic is more open about these basics. It does not mean its treatment works or is safe. Read how to verify a clinic before you book.

1. BioXcellerator – Medellín
BioXcellerator treats patients in Medellín and has a US corporate office in Arizona. It uses donor umbilical cord (Wharton's jelly) MSCs and exosomes from its own lab and cell bank.
- Regulatory standards: says its clinic meets Colombian health-ministry resolutions on health research (Res. 8430 of 1993) and good manufacturing practice (Res. 1160 of 2016), plus ISO and FACT-JACIE standards.
- Doctors: names Dr. Karolynn Halpert as chief medical officer and Dr. Leonardo Ramírez as medical director.
- History: says it has treated patients since 2018.
- Prices: none published. It says financing is available.
2. Stemwell – Bogotá
Stemwell is a Bogotá clinic with an administrative office in Virginia. It uses donor umbilical cord cells grown in a lab and offers a free consultation.
- Regulatory standards: says it is "licensed and accredited by INVIMA," and its site displays a Colombian "servicio de salud habilitado" (registered health service) badge.
- Doctors: names Dr. Camilo White (regenerative medicine) and Dr. Juliana Bonilla (sports medicine), among others.
- History: says it opened in 2014. Its homepage separately says "8 years of successful practice."
- Prices: none published.
3. Regencord – Pereira
Regencord runs its own laboratory at Clínica Central del Eje in Pereira and uses donor umbilical cord MSCs and exosomes.
- Regulatory standards: says it bases its operations on INVIMA's good manufacturing practices.
- Doctors: names its medical team individually, including Dr. Juan Esteban Suárez (orthopedics) and Dr. Henry Idrobo Quintero (hematology and oncology).
- History: says it has treated more than 5,000 patients over the past 11 years. That is the clinic's own figure.
- Prices: none published. It offers a free consultation call.
4. Stem Cells Colombia – Medellín
Stem Cells Colombia treats patients in an operating room in the El Tesoro medical tower in Medellín, with a hotel in the same building. It uses donor Wharton's jelly MSCs.
- Prices: publishes starting prices by treatment, from $1,999 for a knee or shoulder. See our cost guide.
- Doctors: names eight doctors, including Dr. Diana Reyes (anesthesiology and pain) and Dr. Esteban Toro (interventional pain).
- Regulatory standards and history: neither found on the pages we reviewed. It says its lead doctors have performed more than 8,000 procedures.
5. Stem Cells Kyron Colombia – Cali
This Cali clinic is led by Dr. Carlos Eduardo Rojas Martínez and also offers ozone therapy, PRP and prolotherapy. It names three cell sources: fat, bone marrow and donor umbilical cord.
- Prices: publishes 4-day packages from $5,000 (knee) to $12,000 (Parkinson's disease).
- Doctor: names Dr. Rojas, who it says has more than 20 years of experience.
- Regulatory standards and history: no regulator mentioned and no founding year for the clinic itself.
Not included, and why:
- Blue Phoenix (Medellín) and VITALYS (Medellín) met the minimum checks but scored 0 points: their websites name no treating doctor and publish no prices, founding year or regulatory approval.
- Alevy (Pereira and Medellín) publishes a price range, but our directory has no Google review data for it yet.
- Infinity Medicina Regenerativa (Pereira) and MatrixCell (Bogotá) have fewer than 20 Google reviews.
- Clínica de Artrosis Medellín does not yet have a verified profile in our directory.
- FOSCAL (Floridablanca) is a general hospital whose stem cell service is a bone marrow transplant program, not a regenerative clinic.
How to verify a clinic in Colombia
A clinic saying it is "INVIMA approved" is a claim. You can check it yourself:
- Check the clinic is a registered health provider. Every Colombian health facility must be listed in the Ministry of Health's provider registry, REPS (Registro Especial de Prestadores de Servicios de Salud). Ask for the clinic's legal name and NIT (tax ID), then search the REPS public registry (in Spanish). It shows which services each site is registered for.
- Ask about INVIMA. INVIMA is Colombia's medicines regulator and oversees cell products and tissue banks. Ask which lab makes the cells and for that lab's INVIMA certificate in writing. See INVIMA's official site.
- Check the doctor. Ask for the treating doctor's full name and ID number, then check them in the Ministry of Health's ReTHUS registry of health professionals, which also lists disciplinary sanctions.
- Ask about the cells. Where do the cells come from: your own fat, your own bone marrow, or donor umbilical cord? How many cells will you receive, in millions?
- Get a written, itemized quote with cancellation and refund terms before you pay a deposit. See our cost guide.

Be cautious of any clinic that promises a cure, pressures you to pay quickly, or will not tell you the cell source or the doctor's name.

Is stem cell therapy legal in Colombia?
Yes, clinics in Colombia legally offer stem cell treatments, including lab-grown donor cells that are restricted in the US. Health facilities must be registered in the Ministry of Health's REPS registry, and INVIMA regulates cell products. Being legal in Colombia is not the same as FDA approval in the US.
What is INVIMA?
INVIMA (Instituto Nacional de Vigilancia de Medicamentos y Alimentos) is Colombia's national medicines and food regulator, roughly comparable to the FDA. It oversees medicines, biological products and tissue and cell banks. Its official website is invima.gov.co.
How do I check if a Colombian stem cell clinic is licensed?
Ask the clinic for its legal name and NIT, then search the Ministry of Health's REPS registry to see whether it is a registered health provider and for which services. Ask for the cell lab's INVIMA certificate, and check the treating doctor in the ReTHUS registry.
Which Colombian city is best for stem cell therapy?
It depends on your needs. Medellín has the most clinics we list, including two of our top five. Pereira and Cali have smaller clinics. Bogotá has the most international flights. Compare clinics on cell source, doctors and written quotes rather than city alone.
Are stem cell treatments in Colombia FDA-approved?
No. The FDA has approved only blood-forming stem cells from umbilical cord blood, and only for certain blood disorders. Treatments for joints, autoimmune disease, neurological conditions, anti-aging and similar uses are not FDA-approved.
