Short answer: Colombian clinics that publish their prices charge from about $1,999 (US dollars) for a single knee or shoulder injection up to about $12,000 for a multi-day neurological package. One clinic gives a general range of $3,000 to $25,000 or more. Most Colombian clinics publish no prices at all, so always get an itemized written quote before you pay a deposit.
How we compiled these prices
Our sources were the clinics' own websites and our Colombia clinic profiles. We checked each figure against the live website on October 23, 2026.
We used only prices that clinics publish themselves, not figures from third-party marketplaces or competing clinics. US comparison figures come from published studies, which we name. We did not estimate or average any numbers. Prices change, and they are the clinics' own claims, so confirm the current price directly with any clinic before you travel.
As of October 2026, none of the clinics on this page has paid Stem Cell Directory for placement, ranking, or leads. Stem Cell Directory earns money by referring patient inquiries to clinics; if a clinic named here becomes a paying lead customer, we will note it here.
Of the 12 Colombian clinics in our directory, only three publish prices: Stem Cells Colombia, Stem Cells Kyron Colombia and Alevy. The others give a quote after a free consultation or case review.

Is stem cell therapy cheaper in Colombia than in the US?
Often yes, on paper. But the prices are hard to compare directly.
- US price studies: A study of US direct-to-consumer clinics found an average price of $5,156 for one same-day knee stem cell injection, with prices ranging from $1,150 to $12,000. Researchers got that figure by posing as a 57-year-old patient (Piuzzi et al., Journal of Knee Surgery, 2018). A larger phone survey of 288 US orthopedic practices found an average of $2,728 per "stem cell" knee injection, ranging from $300 to $12,000 (Momaya et al., "The Cost Variability of Orthobiologics").
- What you are comparing: Colombia's lowest published knee price ($1,999) is below the US study average for one injection. Higher-priced Colombian packages often add several days of care, tests, a hotel and transport.
- Different products: Colombian clinics mostly use donor umbilical cord cells grown in a lab. In the US, the FDA does not allow these outside clinical trials (FDA). A lower price does not mean the same treatment.
- Unverified savings claims: Statements on clinic websites, such as "from $1,999 vs $20,000+ in the US," are the clinics' own and have not been independently checked.
Compare: published packages in Mexico mostly run $3,900 to $18,000, and in Panama $5,000 to $30,000.
What is usually included, and what is not
What a price covers varies a lot. These examples come from the clinics' own websites:
- Stem Cells Colombia (knee or shoulder, from $1,999): 50 million umbilical cord cells, the operating room, local anesthesia, an ultrasound-guided injection, one doctor's consultation and a bilingual coordinator. The hotel, airport transfers, sedation and exosomes cost extra. Its back treatment (from $4,900) includes one hotel night and transfers.
- Stem Cells Kyron Colombia: Each package is described as a 4-day program. The clinic's prices are "starting at," so ask what your package includes.
- Alevy: The price is set after a medical evaluation and depends on cell dose, delivery method and number of sessions.
Ask every clinic in writing:
- Which cell type and source will be used, for example donor umbilical cord, your own fat or your own bone marrow?
- How many cells, in millions, will you receive?
- How many treatment sessions are included?
- What is the exact total, and what is not included?
Costs that are easy to miss
- Flights, extra hotel nights and meals, plus a travel companion's costs.
- Sedation, exosomes, extra IV drips or hyperbaric oxygen. Some clinics price these separately.
- Pre-treatment imaging, such as an MRI, and blood tests.
- Repeat treatments. For example, Stem Cells Colombia says a second visit 6 to 8 weeks later is usually recommended for systemic conditions.
- Travel and medical insurance for the trip, and follow-up care at home if something goes wrong. The CDC notes that medical travel carries added risks, including infection.
Payment and financing
Most clinics are cash-pay. Examples:
- BioXcellerator (Medellín): says it offers financing options.
- Infinity Medicina Regenerativa (Pereira): says it offers financing and that most HSA or flexible spending accounts can be used.
- Blue Phoenix (Medellín): says patients often use FSA or HSA accounts, and that it gives a price breakdown during the consultation.
Before you send money, get the cancellation and refund terms in writing, and check any HSA or FSA claim with your plan administrator.
Does insurance or Medicare cover it?
Generally, no.
- Medicare: Medicare says it "usually doesn't cover health care while you're traveling outside the U.S.", with a few narrow exceptions.
- FDA approval: The only stem cell products the FDA has approved are blood-forming stem cells from umbilical cord blood, used for blood disorders. Uses such as joints, MS, Parkinson's or anti-aging are not FDA-approved (FDA). Plan to pay out of pocket.

Frequently asked questions
How much does stem cell therapy cost in Colombia?
Among Colombian clinics that publish prices, a single knee or shoulder injection starts at about $1,999, back treatment at about $4,900, and IV treatment for whole-body conditions at about $4,000. Multi-day packages for conditions such as Parkinson's disease reach about $12,000. One clinic gives a general range of $3,000 to $25,000 or more. Ask for a written quote.
Is stem cell therapy cheaper in Colombia than in the US?
Often, but not always on a like-for-like basis. One US study found an average of $5,156 for a single same-day knee injection, while one Medellín clinic publishes knee treatment from $1,999. The cell products also differ: Colombian clinics mostly use lab-grown donor cells that the FDA does not allow outside clinical trials in the US.
How much does stem cell treatment cost in Medellín?
Stem Cells Colombia in Medellín publishes starting prices from $1,399 for facial treatment, $1,999 for a knee or shoulder, $4,000 for IV treatment and $4,900 for the back, up to $7,999 for its longest anti-aging protocol. Other Medellín clinics, such as BioXcellerator and Blue Phoenix, quote after a consultation.
How much does stem cell treatment cost in Bogotá, Cali or Pereira?
In Cali, Stem Cells Kyron Colombia publishes 4-day packages from $5,000 (knee) to $12,000 (Parkinson's disease). In Pereira, Alevy gives a general range of $3,000 to $25,000 or more. We did not find published prices for the Bogotá clinics we list.
Does insurance or Medicare pay for stem cell therapy in Colombia?
Generally, no. Medicare usually does not cover care outside the U.S., and most stem cell uses offered in Colombia are not FDA-approved. Expect to pay out of pocket and check any financing terms carefully.
What is usually included in the price?
It depends on the clinic. A starting price may cover only the cells, the procedure and one consultation, with the hotel, transfers and sedation extra. Longer packages may include a hotel and tests. Ask for an itemized written quote showing the cell type, the number of cells, the sessions included and everything that is not included.
Is stem cell therapy legal in Colombia?
Clinics in Colombia offer lab-grown stem cell treatments that are restricted in the US. Colombia's medicines regulator is INVIMA, and health facilities must be registered with the Ministry of Health's provider registry (REPS). Being legal in Colombia is not the same as FDA approval, and only blood-forming cord blood cells are FDA-approved.
