How we compiled these prices
Our sources were the clinics' own websites and our Panama clinic profiles. We checked each figure against the live website on October 23, 2026.
We used only prices that clinics publish themselves. US comparison figures come from published studies, which we name. We did not estimate or average any numbers. Prices change, and they are the clinics' own claims, so confirm the current price directly with any clinic before you travel.
As of October 2026, none of the clinics on this page has paid Stem Cell Directory for placement, ranking, or leads. Stem Cell Directory earns money by referring patient inquiries to clinics; if a clinic named here becomes a paying lead customer, we will note it here.
We list four stem cell clinics in Panama, all in Panama City. Three of them publish prices.
Cost by clinic
All prices are in US dollars.
| Clinic | Published price | What the clinic says is included | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Stem Cell Institute | From $26,900 (adults); from $15,825 (children) | Treatment, a Hilton hotel room with breakfast, airport transfers with VIP gate service and expedited customs | cellmedicine.com FAQ |
| Auragens | From $28,750 (adults); from $14,500 (children 12 and under) | "May include" hotel, airport transfers, transport to the clinic and concierge support; usually a 5-day program | auragens.com FAQ |
| Regeneration Clinic of Panama | $5,000 to $30,000, by protocol | Treatment protocol, airport transfers, pre-treatment assessment, a patient coordinator and follow-up. Hotel at a corporate rate, paid separately | pricing page |
| Panama Cell Therapies | Not published | The clinic says prices are set after an evaluation | pctpanama.com |
Note on Regeneration Clinic of Panama: its pricing page says $5,000 to $30,000, but its FAQ page says $10,000 to $30,000. Ask which applies to you.
Panama clinics usually price a whole program, not a single injection, so we cannot break prices down by condition the way we can for Mexico or Colombia. The final price depends on the protocol the medical team designs for you.
Panama compared with Mexico and Colombia
Using the published prices on our own cost guides:
| Country | Typical published range | Lowest published starting price |
|---|---|---|
| Panama | $5,000 to $30,000 | $5,000 (Regeneration Clinic of Panama) |
| Mexico | $3,900 to $18,000 | $495 per session (one Tijuana clinic) |
| Colombia | $1,999 to $12,000 | $1,399 (one Medellín clinic, facial treatment) |
Panama's higher prices usually pay for multi-day IV-based programs with a hotel included. Mexican and Colombian clinics more often sell single joint injections, which cost less. Higher price does not prove better results.
Is stem cell therapy cheaper in Panama than in the US?
Not necessarily. Panama's adult programs cost far more than a typical US injection, but they are different products.
- US price studies: A study of US direct-to-consumer clinics found an average price of $5,156 for one same-day knee stem cell injection, with prices ranging from $1,150 to $12,000 (Piuzzi et al., Journal of Knee Surgery, 2018). A phone survey of 288 US orthopedic practices found an average of $2,728 per "stem cell" knee injection (Momaya et al.).
- Different products: Panama clinics use donor umbilical cord cells grown in a lab, often given by IV over several days. In the US, the FDA does not allow these outside clinical trials (FDA), so there is no legal US price to compare against.
What is usually included, and what is not
- Usually included: the treatment program, a medical assessment, airport transfers and, at some clinics, a hotel.
- Often not included: flights, meals, a companion's costs and any extra nights.
- Itemized bills: Regeneration Clinic of Panama states that it does not provide itemized bills. Ask any clinic for a written breakdown before you pay.
Ask every clinic in writing:
- Which cell type and source will be used?
- How many cells, in millions, will you receive, and over how many sessions?
- What is the exact total, and what is not included?
Costs that are easy to miss
- Flights to Panama City, extra hotel nights and meals.
- Pre-treatment tests or imaging you may need at home before approval.
- Repeat treatments. Some clinics suggest follow-up visits.
- Travel and medical insurance, and follow-up care at home if something goes wrong. The CDC notes that medical travel carries added risks, including infection.
Payment and financing
- Auragens: says payment is due before treatment and that financing is available.
- Regeneration Clinic of Panama: says it does not offer financing.
- Stem Cell Institute: says your cost is given in writing once you are approved for treatment.

Does insurance or Medicare cover it?
Generally, no. All three clinics that publish prices say insurance does not cover their treatment. Medicare says it "usually doesn't cover health care while you're traveling outside the U.S." The only FDA-approved stem cell products are blood-forming cord blood cells for blood disorders (FDA).
